Is it normal if my boyfriend keeps complimenting other women but me?

       It's been a year to our relationship. Sometimes I feel like we're loosing the grip. First month he was so nice to me, he used to compliment my appearance. 
      Second month; Every time he used to directly or indirectly compare me with his female friends . I used to cry.. stupid, right? Very often he says he wants me to learn how to take care of myself.  I'M sure he has a long list of my flaws. "chubby girls are great" "just look at you.. not at all girly" I've been hearing this for quite some time now.          I've noticed him checking out other girls too.I've lost confidence in myself.. I really don't want to go anywhere with him, I'm kinda embarrassed of my appearance. 
         
         What should I do? I don't wanna lose this guy either. Advise please!
